Relief Pharmacist
 

The staff pharmacist is responsible to provide quality pharmaceutical care and clinical services to all agencies covered by the Pharmacy. This includes the procurement, distribution and control of all drugs and related item.


Key duties/responsibilities of Retail pharmacist:

1. Prepares or supervises the preparation of liquid medicines, ointments, powders, tablets and other medications
2. Checks prescriptions for correct dosage and for drug interactions and incompatibilities
3. Compounds prescribed medicines, and packages and labels them
4. Stores and preserves vaccines, serums and other drugs subject to deterioration
5. Dispenses medical and surgical products as prescribed
6. Records prescriptions dispensed, and the issue of poisons, narcotics and other restricted drugs
7. Provides advice and information on the use and effects of medications
8. Sells non-prescription drugs, sick-room supplies, toiletries, cosmetics and related commercial products
9. Interpret and fill physicians’ prescriptions for customers on a daily basis
10. Verify all patient information before filling a prescription
11. Provide medicinal consultation to customers upon filling a prescription and on OTC (over the counter) medicines as required
12. Perform order entry of prescriptions into the required pharmacy database
13. Contact physicians and benefits providers as necessary to process a prescription
14. Complete third-party insurance forms and other paperwork
15. Provide a professional and confidential environment for customers on all occasions
16. Compound medications when necessary


Qualifications

1. Must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.
2. Eligibility for registration with the AB College of Pharmacists.
3. Proficiency with computers.
