POSITION TITLE: Food Service Director
LOCATION: Ottawa, Ontario
DURATION: Permanent, Full-Time
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is Canada’s leader in the food service and facilities management business. They currently have a need for a Food Service Director to manage a multi-unit food service operation. These operating units cater in a variety of services including quick-service kiosks and cafeterias, including brand name and healthier food options.
The Food Service Director will be an energetic and highly motivated individual with the ability to successfully manage retail dining. The annual sales revenue for this particular operation is over 7 million dollars. The successful candidate must have a profound entrepreneurial mindset and a strong vision to run the retail food service business successfully and drive sales revenue to the next level.
This position will report directly to the Regional Director and have several direct reports with 50+ unionized associates. This operation runs 7 days per week and occasional weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Involved in all phases of operation planning and expenditures: including retail merchandising, visual merchandising, budgeting, costing and sales reporting.
Accountable for menu planning, marketing, staffing, scheduling, client and customer relationship building.
Ensure strict compliance with QA and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
Coordinate frequent workplace inspections and WHMIS training of all staff and promptly report any workplace accident or incident to head office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Post secondary education plus a minimum of 5 years related management experience in a branded retail foodservice setting with strong front of house retail skills
Proven experience in applying retail merchandising and visual merchandising in retail outlets
Sound knowledge of financial management including ability to control food and labour costs
Creative ability to apply current trendy food items and presentations to food service operations
Proven management skills and a strong motivator, mentor and leader
A very detail oriented individual and a strong team player
Excellent client relationship skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience managing unionized employees
Knowledge of Microsoft Office in Outlook, Word and Excel
Bilingual (French and English) is preferred
