POSITION TITLE: Director, Risk & Controls
LOCATION: Mississauga
DURATION: Permanent, Full-Time
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director, Risk and Controls for Corporate Information Services (CIS) is responsible for providing leadership in Service Management, Risk, Security, Disaster Recovery and Compliance leadership to CIS. This individual will also play a key role in Compliance initiatives across the company as an active and productive member of the Compliance Share Group.
The Director, Risk and Controls will play an active role on the CIS Leadership Team, participating in a variety of initiatives to further the companys IT Strategy. In particular, the Director, Risk and Controls will need to work with other CIS leaders in ensuring C3 controls are adhered and that the Compliance processes are effectively defined and implemented.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a team responsible for:
Executing C3 Compliance activities:
Completing scoping & planning
Updating documentation
Monitoring controls, managing self-testing initiatives, leading testing activities
Communication of controls, status, remediation, performance
Service Management Initiatives:
Defining Service Management strategy & program
Leading Service Management related projects
Providing training & ongoing awareness of processes and performance
Risk (security & disaster recovery) programs:
Maintaining the risk framework, building strategies, defining opportunities for improvement
Leading risk programs (Risk Mapping, Emergency Response)
Leading the disaster recovery planning & testing initiatives
Compliance:
Liaising with Internal Audit to define annual audit plans
Leading the audit initiatives
Responding to audit recommendations
Monitoring and reporting performance
Muscle build and lead the Risk & Controls teams (comprised of 2 Managers; Analysts / specialists / coordinators delivering on Risk & Controls activities).
Ensure team is structured appropriately, has the right skill set and able to adapt to evolving demands.
Be an active member of the Compliance Share Group / Steering Committee.
Work with other CIS Leaders in developing and implementing IT
strategy and processes
Help lead CIS in becoming a highly service-oriented entity
Be flexible to develop and grow with the role as company evolves.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A University undergraduate degree
5-10 years full-time work experience in a managerial role that has exposed the individual to: leading teams; prioritizing initiatives; and successfully leading difficult projects that have required strong leadership and change management.
Experienced in or has exposure to strategic planning and corporate development practices and methodologies.
Ideally someone with specific Compliance, Service Management, Risk skills and experience.
Knowledge of IT systems and practices
Understanding and appreciation of Six Sigma (its philosophy, methods, and tools) would be an asset.
Strong people skills and the ability to work within varied levels of the organization.
A facilitator who is able to influence and manage change.
Strong leader who can inspire and develop a team
Strong organizational, analytical and planning abilities combined with practical business sense.
Strong written and oral communications skills
