POSITION TITLE: Systems Administrator

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is a technology startup firm which provides application software and associated services to the financial industry, with a focus on Mobile Payments.
They are currently seeking an individual to fill the role of Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development of operations facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, implementation, and maintenance of:
internal Ethernet-based networks (as well as the design, implementation, and maintenance of a wireless network)
Linux servers
Developer workstations (Windows and Linux)
Developer support systems
Internet networks and services
Web-based services (internal and customer-facing)
Windows desktop and laptops
Small Storage Area Network (SAN)
Monitoring and reporting tools
Various and sundry database systems
Additional:
All purchasing-related activities, including evaluation, quote generation, purchase order generation, and follow-up
General documentation and reporting
Light coding
Miscellaneous systems- or -related duties
REQUIREMENTS:
Familiar with SQL databases in general; MySQL, PostgreSQL,
DB2, and Oracle in particular
Strong system administration experience with Solaris, AIX, Red Hat Linux, and Debian GNU/Linux
Experience in using interpreted languages (BASH/Python/PERL/etc.)
Experience defining and implementing best practices
Experience with networking hardware and software, particularly switches and firewalls
Strong troubleshooting skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Cool under fire
