POSITION OVERVIEW
Our client is looking for a permanent Senior Software Analyst to join their Development Team in Mississauga. This is an exciting opportunity working with one of our client’s newest product lines delivering web-based enterprise software solutions. The Senior Software Analyst is responsible for overall application design of web based applications. This individual will be knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and developing applications and is comfortable in developing requirements and design specifications for new and existing applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fully participate and/or lead in the design, implementation and deployment phases of the SDLC.
Participate in project planning, project definition, analysis, design, testing and deployment.
Build systems implementing new features for deployment across our entire product line.
Extend existing applications and systems.
Support Technical Support and IT Operations in system debugging and problem resolution efforts as needed.
Gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input/output requirements to design application systems to perform well logically and physically
Coordinate new data development and ensure it is consistent and well integrated with existing application systems
Research and evaluate software (such as open source and 3rd party products) and hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms
Establish auditing procedures to ensure continued integrity
Coordinate enhancements and maintenance of application systems, as well as structural changes when necessary
Interface with clients and company management to provide ongoing status
Write and maintain documentation to describe application development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections
Write documentation or review documentation written by others that describes implementation and operating procedures
Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about applications
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent, extensive and related project management experience
Seven to ten years of experience in IT with a minimum of three years in application systems design and web based architectures
Comprehensive knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis, and design and programming techniques
Working knowledge of one or more multi-user, multitasking operating systems
Working knowledge of transactional real-time systems.
Substantial knowledge of web-based, 3 tier architectures.
3-5 years J2EE Development experience.
Ability to source data from legacy systems
Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the application team's knowledge of and concern for customer requirements
Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for a variety of projects
Ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area
Project planning and management skills, including scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignment
In-depth experience designing and implementing applications
