Job Description:
The Department of National Defence (DND) intends to reallocate military Information Technology (IT) personnel from bases, garrisons and wings to field and deployable units to improve their availability for employment on higher priority operational tasks. To continue providing IT support, DND has a requirement for ongoing IT professional services on a contract basis. Opportunities are available in Pembroke (ON), in Kingston (ON) and in Toronto (ON).
The Network Support Specialists duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinating installation, operation, maintenance, resolution of hardware and software incidents and problems, monitoring or network traffic, capacity planning and system backup for Local Area Network(LAN)/Metropolitan Area Network;
Maintaining interface with vendor representatives and other computing resources to resolve networking hardware and software incidents and problems;
Installing or coordinating installation of network hardware, software for use with personal computers and mainframe/personal computer interaction, and network upgrades according to vendor instructions;
Configuring equipment with assistance from vendor or other computing resources; and
Maintaining accurate records and logs of users, equipment serial numbers, service records, maintenance agreements, warranties, wiring schemes and network incidents, problems and solutions.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Five (5) years experience working as a Network Support Specialist;
Must hold CCNA or CCNP certification;
Must have additional Cisco certifications obtained in the last five (5) years;
Must hold a valid Public Works; (PWGSC) Federal Government Secret clearance.
Desirable Qualifications:
Familiarity with any of the following DND System applications:
o ITSM tool (Army): Support Magic SDE 9.0/9.2.
o ITSM tool (Air Force): assist and Remedy 7.1,
o Network Operation System (NOS): Microsoft Windows 2003 Server,
o Desktop Operating System (OS): Microsoft Windows XP,
o Messaging System; Microsoft Exchange, and
o Office Suite: Microsoft Office 2000 and 2003

Work is performed on-site
Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:00
