Our client is the leading contractor in the Saskatechewan market and one of the leading general contractors in Canada. They have been in operation for over 50 years and pride themselves on their reputation and people skills which are evident by their truly excellent staff retention. They have an office which is based out of the Saskatoon area and they will deliver construction projects up to $125million on a lump sum, fixed price or design and build. By the nature of the market and long standing relation with various clients and stakeholders a lot of the work is done on a fixed price bases but design and build is becoming an integral part of their business
They have an experience team out of the office and like to manage people with open communication and actively encourage communication in connection with where the business is going. The sectors they work in are Heavy Civil such as Roads, Bridges, and Waste and Sewer Water Treatment plants all on a self performing basis in terms of the concrete. Commercial and Institutional such as schools, hospitals, new build government and university buildings. Heavy Industrial is the largest section of the business and they will do concrete foundations, power such as sub stations and waste /sewer water treatment plants for industrial plants ,the actual construction of the plants them selves along with all the associated piping and mining .
Due to both expansion and succession planning they are looking for 3 Senior Project Managers to come into the business within the Heavy Civils and Industrial Section to be part of the future senior management team that is going to push the business forward over the next 15-20 years
As a Senior Project Manager you will be in charge of the day to day running of either on large project or 2/3 smaller projects, this is very much a hands on role which will be site based in charge of all the budgeting, cost control and analysis, supervising superintendents and project co-ordinators, setting the initial schedule and managing your team to bring the project in on budget and schedule. You will also be involved in preconstruction and the tendering of the project so you will get the opportunity to run the project from inception through to completion i.e cradle to grave
You will be responsible for monitoring the sub contracts performance to ensure production is maintained but also end product specification and construction is as per blue print drawings. Quality Assurance and Quality Control will also be part of your remit.
My client is looking for hands on construction experience, candidates who have been involved in construction of large projects up to $125million and senior project managers who have been working for Contractors or General contractor. My client may consider candidates from owner background if they have had full EPCM on a self performing basis .
You will have 10 -15 years experience in the Construction of Heavy Civil of Heavy Industrial projects and ideally have experience of Design and Build projects, you will come from a trades or a civil engineering background with hands on construction experience.
You will have stand alone managed projects in excess of $25million and been full responsible for budget, cost control, schedule, supervision of direct employees such as superintendents, co-ordinators and sub contractors. You will have experience in liaising with stake holder and clients to agree production, performance and potential change orders.
You must have worked on Heavy civil projects such as waste/sewer water treatment plants, bridges, roads, concrete foundations or on Heavy industrial projects such as mining, plants, refineries, piping
