Sr. Enterprise and Solution Architects (x3)

Position Overview:

Our Retail Health Care and Pharmacy client is searching for seasoned Sr. Enterprise and Solution Architects who will be responsible for the delivery of Business Architecture, Information/Data Architecture, Application Architecture and Technology Architecture and IT governance. In addition, this team provides complete solution architecture to all initiatives. Enterprise Architecture is responsible for the specification, governance and optimal use of business information application and technology architecture. This includes but not limited to the following:

• Function as a creator and custodian to maintain IT Strategy, its alignment with EA, Business strategy and portfolio of strategic initiatives
• Establish and maintain enterprise architecture framework and reference architecture
• Specifying bank-wide core Business Capability;
• Specifying bank-wide technologies and services;
• Providing forward-thinking research and leadership on information technology;
• Guiding the use of IT to ensure quality, optimal usage and sharing of technology capabilities;
• Developing a future state architecture that aligns with business strategy
• Defining the solution architecture in support of project activities.

Position Requirements:

The Sr. Enterprise and Solution Architect is responsible for the formulation, execution and realization of the architecture solutions. Reporting to Director of Architecture, the successful candidate will take on a senior role in defining architectural solutions in support of the company’s business and technology.

• Working with the business areas to identify business capability model key business processes and align business strategy with architecture
• Guide business are through the process of building blue print for new initiative and determine the high level system(s) changes to accomplish business requirements and building new business capabilities.
• Working with the delivery teams and business partners, define the detailed architecture solution that will support the business requirement for a project.
• Provide consultation and support to project teams throughout the SDLC.
• Formulate architecture strategies and transition architectures that will illustrate how the proposed architecture will evolve to satisfy the needs and concerns of stakeholders (eg delivery teams, business sponsors, infrastructure & security partners)
• Lead the development team through the process of architectural and design reviews
• Provide consultation and guidance to delivery team on choice of appropriate technologies, standards adherence and process to obtain approval for deviations
• Coordinate with other technology areas (as needed) to formulate a high level solution architecture to support conceptual and preliminary estimates.
• In complex initiatives, act as the lead to coordinate the activities of different architects to arrive at the overall architecture solution
• Provide guidance and leadership to junior solution architects within the team
• Produce architectural artifacts / documentation
• In addition of creating the artifacts he will play a leadership role in populating the Architecture Framework
• Participate in reviews of the Project Architectures by identifying opportunities and recommendations to optimize or enhance service offerings.
• Lead governance committees and architecture reviews as required

Experience and Qualifications
Technical Skills:

• In-depth understanding of architectural and design principals and methodologies especially TOGAF and Zachman,and including: OOA, OOD, UML, service oriented architecture, n-tier architecture
• Working knowledge of OO design patterns and frameworks.
• Experience with programming languages such as Java and/or a C variant (C, C++, C#)
• Familiarity with most current technologies such as: J2EE, Web Services, XML/XPath/Xquery/XSLT,, HTML/CSS/Ajax, Serlvet/JSP
• Familiarity with at least one database technology (eg Oracle) and one J2EE container technology (eg Weblogic)
• Familiarity with information architecture and big data concepts
• 15+ years of financial industry experience with extended periods in both architecture and hands-on development lead roles. .
• Experience with technology governance policies, standards and best practices
• Ability to understand and appreciate the business and technical drivers/constraints within banking areas.
• Working understanding with vendors and systems in the banking area is a definite asset
• Strong understanding to technologies that supports online and mobile brokerage applications
• TOGAF/Zachman certification is an asset

Relationship Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; including presentation skills
• Ability to communicate with a wide audience (ie technical staff, senior management, business representatives) and at varying level of details (ie detailed technical specification vs high level executive summary)
• Good negotiation and influencing skills
• Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manne
