Location: Calgary, Alberta
Description: Required for our client who is a growing leader in the design, manufacturing and installation of pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete components for a variety of structures. Their products are used for both structural and architectural purposes and in a variety of applications including: bridges, stadiums, arenas, schools and parkades. The Engineering Manager is responsible for the Engineering and Drafting department. This position reports directly to the General Manager or Operations Manager Prairie Region.
Key responsibilities:
Supervises professional, technical and support staff on a day-to-day or project basis.
Conducts advanced and complex engineering and related studies, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations.
Serves as project manager on complex projects, including defining project scope, selecting consultants, negotiating contracts, amendments and change orders, preparing and monitoring project schedules; monitoring, reviewing and coordinating project design and construction; enforcing terms of the contract, coordinating projects with other departments; and resolving contract disputes.
Performs project development for complex projects, preparing project budgets designs and preparing cost estimates for engineering.
Monitors and supervises design and construction
Maintain plant quality, and must ensure clarity with the plant in selection of material specifications, determination of tolerances, finish mix designs etc
Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) either registered with APPEGA or capable of registration
B.Sc. Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer
Must have direct relevant pre-cast concrete structure design experience
Minimum 7 years of professional engineering experience, which must have included project management, and supervisory experience in a construction environment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Versed in the latest manufacturing technology. Six Sigma Certification an asset
Budget principles and practices experience
Familiar with design software and computer applications related to the work
