The only office in Atlantic Canada, the Halifax office offers a unique opportunity to participate in securities trading. If you possess a strong interest in markets, good sense of discipline, and a competitive spirit, then you may be well suited to trading. A specific kind of education is not required, nor is any prior experience in the markets. Good reflexes and quick decision-making abilities are assets. Your video gaming skills may finally come in handy!
As an Equity Trader you will actively trade the firm’s capital for profit. You will execute intra-day trades on SwiftTrade’s advanced trading platform with the primary responsibility of taking as much profit from the market as possible. You receive a percentage of your net profit, and the more you make, the better your percentage. The Halifax office is dedicated to mentoring and coaching Equity Traders to maximize profitability throughout their career.
Understanding and managing risk is key to trading. The Halifax office assumes the risk of trying to build new candidates into profitable traders. As a new trader you will assume the risk of a position that rewards you based on performance - a venturous proposition, but precisely what a successful trader will prefer.
REQUIREMENTS
The following are characteristics of successful traders:
- Strong interest in markets
- Enjoy challenges, puzzles, strategizing (e.g. videogames / poker)
- Confident decision-making ability
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, competitive environment
- Quick reflexes, good hand-eye coordination
- Excellent pattern recognition
Experience is not required, however, we are looking for career-minded individuals. Training is mentored and goals are self-paced to encourage individual achievement and success. Trading is done on our fully outfitted trading floor using our proprietary trading execution platforms.
