Oilsands Operation recovers bitumen from oil sands and upgrades it to refinery-ready feedstock and diesel fuel.Construction is underway for the next phase of oil sands growth, which is expected to deliver production capacity of 350,000 barrels per day in 2008, growing in stages to a goal of up to 550,000 barrels per day in 2010 to 2012 and growth is not expected to stop there. Expansion and opportunity are words you hear often at Suncor.Position Outline:Reporting to the manager, Geotechnical Engineering, the Resident Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for overseeing QA for construction of large dykes and dumps in associated with mine operations. In this role this position will direct the activities of several field staffKey Accountabilities:Interpretation of IFC drawingsField EngineeringLiason with Mine Operations and Mine Planning staff to ensure designs are executed effectively and efficiently for Suncormanagement of a construction record databaseSupport Suncor Minning's construction as built processQualification Requirements:An engineering degree in geotechniccal, civil, or related fieldA member of APEGGA or eligible for membershipA minimum of 5 years engineering experience with well rounded experience with some background in engineering consulting is prefferedMust be willing to work and be a key contributor in a dynamic team environmentMust have excellent communication skills both written and verbalMust have a valid drivers licenceWorking Conditions:This position is a regular full time staff position located at the base plant of the Suncor's Oil Sands operation. Work duties include both office and field work. |
