Responsibilities:
• Sets, maintains and promotes a high standard of sonography and patient care.
• Maintains a high degree of clinical expertise, ensuring awareness of current developments in medical imaging and that best practice is of the highest priority.
• Acts as a role model and clinical expert to facilitate the development of others through education and example.
• Support the GM in the implementation and maintenance of an education and training programme for all team members.
• Actively participates in the professional development of all staff.
• Supports the GM in ensuring that imaging practice standards are monitored and kept current, to maintain a high quality service.
• Facilitates assessment of work practices, identifying areas of change required, implementation of change and evaluation of effectiveness via clinical audit.
• Proactively supports colleagues in implementing innovative practice, where appropriate.
• Researches, summarizes and analyzes information; calculates statistics and compiles data to prepare relevant management information, as required.
• Assists in the implementation of new policies, procedures or practices impacted by decisions made by CEO, Directors, GM or the external health economy.
• Serves as liaison to all, staff, patients, outside suppliers and the public concerning information or complaints.
• Supports the GM in the recruitment and selection of staff, as required.
• May supervise, monitor or coordinate the activities of subordinates.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction, downtime and performance as required and co-ordinates preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with clinical demand.
• Any other duties as directed that are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence or training.
Requirements:
• Primary Qualification in Radiography
• Postgraduate Qualification in Ultrasound
• Validation with the Department of Health and Children, Ireland if studies were completed outside of the country.
