Our client is in Distribution and is located in North Mississauga. Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all phases of human resources. Work environment includes commissioned sales reps, business offices plus plant workers. The successful candidate MUST HAVE experience in a distribution environment.
Policy & procedure development:
• Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
• Creates policies and procedures for all functional HR areas outlined below.
Employee & Labour relations:
• Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs from staff and management.
• Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations' issues, including the appropriate handling of grievances and complaints.
• Serves as a liaison for staff concerns. While not an employee advocate, should be available to hear their concerns and help to facilitate resolution of same.
• Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
Performance Management
• Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
Recruitment & Retention
• Oversees the recruiting and selection process to include developing and placing advertisements, conducting screening interviews, scheduling on-site interviews, administering tests, conducting employment and education verification, and preparing and making employment offers.
• Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
• Facilitates employee recognition events.
Training & Development
• Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals.
• Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, safety, sexual harassment, etc. under the guidance of corporate HR.
• Identify top talent and conduct succession planning.
Compensation & Benefits
• Administers benefits programs
• Oversees salary administration to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
• Keeps records of participation in benefits plans such as insurance and pension plans.
Health & Safety
• Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
As the ideal candidate you have the following qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
• 5-7 years of increasingly responsible HR work experience with a broad skill set
• Able to work independently while still maintaining strong ties to the corporate HR team
• Able to work comfortably with all organizational levels from entry-level to senior mgmt
• Experience with budget preparation
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to operate with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
• Experience in a plant environment is an asset |
