-Co-ordinates the work of mechanical designers and senior designers in the preparation of contract drawings, record keeping and other statistical work
-Passes on instructions from engineers and ensures compatibility of outcomes
-Conceptual layout work
-Prepares unit take offs for engineering estimates
-Checks drawings prior to release
-Develops design details
-Develops Layouts and mechanical equipment location
-Design and drafting of mechanical plant models using Project Specifications and Procedures
-Using vendor drawings and information to develop and check the model
-Coordination with designers and engineers of other disciplines
-Clash detection of models with other discipline models
-In conjunction with engineering staff, prepare design concepts for internal and client review
-In conjunction with engineering staff, produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation for identified and approved concepts/projects
-Participation in formal engineering review processes
QUALIFICATIONS
-Minimum of 6 years mechanical design experience
-Proficient in the use of MicroStation
-Ability to work under supervision
-Preparation of 3D equipment modelling
-Annotation of 2D drawing extracted from the 3D model
-Good understanding of mechanical materials.
-Detailed design and modelling skills for mechanical equipment in heavy industrial/mining plant.
Assets
-Experience required in the following Software Package - Bentley Plantspace design series version 8.5 and Bentley Datamanager 2004 or similar package eg PDS.
