Function
The Project Engineer primarily has responsibilities for scope, project deliverables, cost and schedule. More specifically this involves managing on behalf of the Project Manager/Director a particular scope area(s) to ensure that Engineering, Procurement and other deliverables are both completed and produced on schedule, while controlling deviations in scope and corresponding cost and schedule.
On larger projects, the overall scope is typically split between several PEs, and an Engineering Manager is present to assume responsibilities for overall technical / engineering quality. The PE is then more concerned with the unit or area management objectives and less with technical details.

• General Coordination and liaison between all personnel assigned to the project to ensure mutual understanding and agreement is reached on all phases of the work, as defined by the contract, and to ensure continuity of job progress and design. To gather and disseminate project data and information to all concerned so that all activities are well correlated and are effective to meet project commitments
• Planning and scheduling as it relates the project scope to milestones, establishing critical delivery dates, and assisting in developing basic design data and engineering schedules and monitors the actual progress versus schedule.
