Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·Act in a manner to create communication, positive environment and teamwork
Manage all daily operations related to shop and traffic personnel
·Hiring, firing, salary administration and performance evaluations for direct and indirect reports
·Manage time and attendance system for biweekly payroll
·Schedule shop production
·Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with Traffic Dept. and Plant Foreman
·Implement and monitor quality control procedures
·Monitor safety and OSHA compliances and conduct monthly safety meetings
·Responsible for accuracy of perpetual inventory
·Communicate with General Manager on key issues
Reports Directly to: General Manager
Reports Indirectly to: President
Direct Reports: Plant Foreman, Traffic Manager, Inventory Control Specialist, All shop personnel
Education and Experience Level Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Five years experience with hands-on management of employees in a production/distribution environment
Desired Minimum Requirements:
Computer literate, strong communication skills (both verbal and written), experience in managing personnel and related issues, minimum of 5 years experience with hands-on management of employees in a production/distribution environment, previous steel experience helpful.
Skills and Abilities:
.Ability to operate all machinery and tools, using the proper safety methods, in the shop.
Knowledge of Stelpan system.
Ability to handle Sales Reps, outside vendors and customers with tact and respect.
Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Must be able to work hours as demanded by business conditions.
Tools and Equipment Used:
Personal Computer, fax, scanner, digital camera, printer, overhead crane and forklift.
