Regional Health and Safety Advisor - Prairies & North

The successful candidate will be involved with developing, implementing and supporting GAL H&S initiatives within the Prairie Region. As part of the Golder Associates Ltd. (GAL) Health and Safety (H&S) team, the Regional Health and Safety Advisor will report to the GAL National H&S Leader.

Responsibilities include;

• Champion and oversee the effective rollout of H&S initiatives
• Participate in the development of new H&S strategies, systems and programs as a member of the GAL H&S Team
• Liaise with the Leadership Team to ensure their satisfaction and understanding of H&S initiatives
• Provide guidance and support to the Regional Management team in implementing the GAL H&S Management System within the region
• Act as a resource for the Regional Management team
• Communicate regularly with the Regional H&S Coordinators regarding progress and new initiatives
• Align H&S systems with provincial standards/requirements
• Ensure compliance with H&S initiatives and practices
• Mentor H&S Coordinators within the Region
• Support the regional leaders with regards to the H & S training of internal employees
• Providing guidance in conducting investigations


Qualifications

The preferred candidate will be highly committed to safe work practices and will possess the following skills and attributes:

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in H&S, Engineering or Sciences
• Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation.
• 10 + years combined experience in H&S, engineering and/ or sciences
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
• Good problem solver with the ability to identify alternative solutions
• Self starter and highly motivated
• Available for business travels and extended working hours, when required
• Valid driver’s licence
