Our client is seeking to appoint two highly experienced, leading edge professionals to join their technical services division. We require the specialised skill & ability of both Stormwater Drainage &/or Roads.
The Engineers required, must be experienced & leading edge professionals providing project management for the design phase of complex engineering projects. Reporting directly to the Design Coordinator, with high levels of knowledge & skills of established practices & principles in a multi-disciplinary environment, exercise initiative & judgement in the development & application of techniques & methods to effectively undertake complex projects as follows:
· As a Civil Design Engineer, undertake the management of the design phase of municipal engineering projects including those of a complex & multi-disciplinary nature.
· Co-ordinate the assigned Project Team(s) to ensure project deadlines, allocation of jobs, design briefs, final checking & other factors affecting the efficient completion of projects are achieved.
· Ensure that workflow is maintained across the position occupant’s projects & that projects are completed within strict time frames & funding allowances.
· Provide technical advice to Contract & Day Labour Supervisors to ensure the integrity of the design intent.
· Liaise & negotiate with Clients, other authorities/bodies & members of the public ensuring coordinated outcomes for the position occupant’s work projects.
· Undertake the following tasks as part of the assigned projects or as required:
- Feasibility studies
- Master Planning
- Investigations
- Preparation of Reports
- Preliminary & detailed design
- Cost estimating
- Construction documentation & specifications (contract & day labour)
- Checking of work by other staff
- Analysis, reporting & making recommendations on Tender submissions
- Contract supervision on selected projects or parts of projects
- Provision of specialist advice to the Technical Services Branch & the Directorate
- Ensure equipment is in an appropriate state of repair.
- Contribute towards new ideas, methods & procedures for the betterment of the Section & Branch.
- Enhance customer service by communicating with clients in a courteous, cooperative & competent manner.
- Foster an atmosphere of responsible quality & environmental performance in accordance with directorate, branch &/or section standard operating procedures.
