Our client, an International Energy Servicing Company, currently require a Engineering Manager to add to their ever-growing and experienced engineering staff in Algiers, Algeria- North Africa.
Description Supervisory and Managerial Duties:
Providing direction and guidance on Engineering process and procedures to the offices.
Basic Purpose of Job:
Management of the Engineering Function in Algiers.
Specifically responsible for the set-up, co-ordination and management of workflow within our Algeria offices.
Specifically responsible for the set-up, co-ordination and management of workflow to remote offices such as.
Responsible for our engineering process and procedures for our Algiers office.
Provide guidance on the assurance of Technical Integrity though the application of engineering process and procedures.
Main Duties:
To provide support for continual development of Engineering Function within Our - consistent approach.
Responsible for implementing good engineering practice within Our Algiers office.
Development of Engineering Management Systems and Processes for Algiers office in line with corporate requirements.
Input to Business Support and HSEQ Management Systems for Algiers office.
Co-ordinate Algerian sphere Engineering input to Bid Group.
Assist with development of new and existing Our Engineering offices through interactive / pro-active support.
Management workflow into remote offices/sites within Algerian region.
Focal Point for strategic alliances with other companies and industry bodies.
Promotion of best practice across company.
Monitoring the Technical Assurance of the Engineering and Design services and deliverables
Provision of technical and procedural guidance and support for Engineering and Design staff.
Assist with employee relations and maintenance of good public and client relations in engineering matters.
Assist with the selection and recruitment of technically competent staff.
Assist with identification of training and career development requirements of staff.
In the case of conflict between Engineering Function and Projects/Contracts provide focal point to resolve problems.
Maintain contacts with other function heads and affiliated companies.
Maintain an awareness of relevant current technology, changes to Algerian and International Standards, Codes of Practice and changes to Algerian / UK legislation as it affects offshore and onshore work. Ensure Engineers are made aware of these new developments.
Manage the development of technological development in the Engineering Function and ensure the means of support to new technologies introduced is maintained.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Shall take into account relevant aspects of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974) in the absence of any in-country guidelines
Knowledge of, compliance with and promotion of, in-country and regional health and safety guidelines and procedures
Knowledge of, compliance with and promotion of, office, site and contract/project health and safety guidelines and procedures
Actively promote and comply with the Company Safety Management System where relevant, or in the absence of any in-country guidelines
Take into account all relevant procedures, guidance etc. relating to the work, which will ensure compliance with company Safety Management System where relevant, or in the absence of any in-country guidelines
Shall ensure all personnel working under their direction are aware of the requirements placed upon them by Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974) and the company Safety Management System.
Skills Education/Qualifications:
Degree qualification in relevant subject
Chartered Engineer with relevant recognized professional body
Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
Formal management training
French Speaking is a big plus
Experience:
Significant overseas experience in the engineering industry
Significant experience in the engineering industry, of which some must have been with a major Oil and Gas Contractor in a supervisory position, such as Lead Engineer
Due to the high interaction with the remote/overseas offices a degree of overseas experience would be preferable
Some experience of managing a multidiscipline engineering team within a design office environment
Considerable experience in the development and application of the necessary process to assure technical integrity
Personal Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills
Team player
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications
Displays confidence in own abilities and is motivated to deliver
Ability to investigate and interpret data
Able to keep discipline and resolve conflict

French Speaking is a plus
