A grant-funded Research Associate position is available starting January 1, 2010 for one year. The applicant should demonstrate comprehensive training and a strong research track-record in pharmacology, cancer research, and medicine. Industrial experience and technical experience in animal surgery for both terminal and survival animal models is highly desirable.
The successful candidate must possess:
• A PhD degree with related working experience of at least 5 years as a scientist or equivalent post-doctoral experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience in working with small and larger animals in both GLP and non-GLP settings; hands-on experience in in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo experiments and research studies.
• Abilities in the development, establishment, and implementation of animal models (small and large animals) and medical devices for research and drug discovery as well as the utilization of in vivo experimental methodologies for various purposes.
• Experience in the establishment, development, and implementation of experimental protocols and novel biochemical and molecular biological assays.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience in effectively achieving goals via both independent and collaborative work in interdisciplinary team settings.
• Ability to successfully publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
• Fundamental knowledge of the scientific literature as well as the ability to rapidly assimilate new areas.
• Experience and ability in the preparation of research grant applications including research proposal and budget preparation.
• Ability and experience in the preparation of ethics applications to the Research Ethics Board at a university or equivalent setting.
