As a Medical Advisor within GSK Canadas Medical Division, you will work as part of the local and global medical teams to effectively develop the assets in our Neuroscience therapeutic pipeline. You will be accountable for providing medical expertise and leadership to the Canadian GSK operating company along with specific global project accountability. In this role you with interface with multiple internal functions such as Marketing, Sales, Public Affairs & Reimbursement, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, as well as external partners (Global R&D functions and external physicians) while striving to meet the needs of Canadian patients and maximize the potential of GSK assets. This role will have significant focus on the GSK Neuroscience pipeline and developing the many assets towards commercial success in Canada and globally.

Primary Responsibilities:
As a member of both local and global R&D matrix teams, you will provide Canadian Medical perspectives on the design and management of global research programs to ensure successful commercialization of GSK assets
You will have specific accountability for one or more aspects of a global neuroscience development program
Help to identify Key Opinion Leaders in the various disease areas and develop mutually beneficial working relationships to share scientific understanding and advancement around GSK medicines (primarily pipeline assets)
Working with the local medical team and with a cross-functional therapy area teams to develop and implement a local, integrated medical strategy for your therapeutic products.
Leverage medical expertise and research knowledge to support Regulatory filing strategies, product labeling issues, and Health Canada meetings towards building and maintaining sustainable competitive advantage.
Work with the Public Affairs and Reimbursement staff to develop robust reimbursement strategies to ensure the patients who benefit from our products have appropriate access.
Advise and support local senior management on program related activities and issues
Building and implementing the Medical Affairs departmental strategy.
Mentoring and developing staff.
Ensure high governance and safety standards by:
Becoming the Medical Monitor for Canadian sites participating in the conduct of globally or locally funded research initiatives
Liaise with Medical Safety, Information, and Governance to ensure uncompromised safety standards, integrity and provide medical input to issues/crisis management teams
Required Qualifications:
Medical degree with expertise in Neurosciences
A licensed Internist ideally with more advanced training in Neurology or psychiatry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry
Clinical research and/or academic research experience
Understanding of Canadian Regulatory and Reimbursement environments
Proven ability to work in teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills
A self starter with a results orientation and good self-management.
A willingness to travel on occasion
