Heavy Duty Mechanic/Shop Supervisor


The City of Brooks’ Works and Utilities Department has an opening for a permanent full time Heavy Duty Mechanic/Shop Supervisor. Reporting to the Works and Utilities Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Preventative Maintenance Program for the City’s equipment and perform all repairs and maintenance on fleet equipment as assigned.

As the successful applicant, you must have completed the twelfth (12th) school grade, or equivalent, supplemented by a Heavy Duty Mechanic License/Certification. You will also possess a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ related experience, a Class 3 Driver’s License with Q-Brake Endorsement and a clean driver’s abstract, knowledge of Alberta Transportation, and a Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program Certification.

The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefit package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032. The 2014 salary range is $37.84 to $39.71 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
