Receptionist - Maternity Leave Position


The City of Brooks has an immediate opening for a Receptionist operating out of City Hall. This is a temporary maternity leave position working to October 2015. Reporting to the Manager of Administration, this position is responsible for providing the following clerical support: answering incoming calls, responding to telephone inquiries, providing coverage for the Cashier position, assisting the public at the front counter, and responding to in-person inquiries.

As Receptionist you will perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to: answer all incoming telephone calls on a multi-line telephone system, respond to telephone inquiries, screen and transfer calls, refer visitors and calls to the appropriate individual; assist customers and guests at the front counter; issue receipts and balance cash received; prepare material for mailing and perform daily mail runs; organize and distribute the City’s office supply order; and assist other clerical staff as required.

The successful applicant must have completed the twelfth (12th) school grade, or equivalent, preferably supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year experience in an office environment. Completion of an office administration certificate is preferred. The successful applicant must possess the ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants must provide a criminal records check prior to the start of employment.

The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary for this position. Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4:30pm.
