The primary role of Inside Sales Account Manager is to support the Outside Sales Team in the process of developing new business opportunities and facilitate in maintaining existing business. The incumbent liaises with Outside Sales, Customer Service, Operations and Administration to develop strong relationships, provide added value and help Wheels develop the strengths to meet the customers’ requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Facilitate with the Outside Sales Team to help maximize and manage the volume, revenue and margin within the defined customer base in order to deliver sales results.
• Constantly communicate with customers through phone calls, emails and personal visits as required to discuss concerns.
• Work alongside Customer Service to ensure customer profiles are up-to-date.
• Assist the Field Sales Account Managers and any internal resources to enhance margin improvement and finalize rate requests.
• Work closely with the Marketing department to assist in margin improvement on all lanes identified in the Monthly Sales Analysis.
• Anticipate customer requirements and meet those needs in a professional and proactive manner.
• Cultivate strong personal relationships with customers.
• Ensure customers expectations are met or exceeded by effectively communicating with Operations and other teams within Wheels.
• Assist in the development and implementation of customer business plans.
• Manage and resolve any conflicts or issues with customers. Develop action plans with the customer and/or the Outside Sales team and/or Wheels Management to prevent recurrence.
• Effectively communicate with Field Sales Account Managers on their business activity.
Identify new business opportunities.
• Contact, establish, cultivate and develop existing accounts.
• Identify new selling opportunities. Rethink and develop new features to provide benefits for the customer.
• Determine, evaluate and report special trends in the customer base with the Outside Sales Team.
• Other duties and assignments as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education and Industry Knowledge
• High school diploma.
• College Diploma / University Degree in business or related discipline is an asset. CITT an asset.
• Possess a minimum of 3-5 years sales or customer service experience in the transportation industry.
• Good understanding of the North American transportation industry including highway (domestic and cross border), intermodal and logistics.
Technical Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word).
• Intermediate computer skills required in Excel (i.e., formulas, graphs).
• PowerPoint an asset.
Customer Service Skills
• Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely, internal and external customer service.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.

• Ability to clearly identify the customers’ current and future needs and present transportation solutions to them.
