Outside Sales Account Representative
 

The primary role of the Outside Sales Account Representative is to increase market share through the solicitation and capture of new accounts and through expansion of revenue of existing clients. The incumbent position is to sell the full menu of logistics and divisions including intra Canada intermodal, trans-border intermodal, highway FTL/LTL, global, warehouse and dedicated fleets. Minimum of 5 years experience in Transportation / Logistics. THIS IS A PROSPECTOR ROLE.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Maximize and manage the volume, revenue and margin within the defined sales territory and / or customer base in order to deliver sales results.
• Constantly communicate with customers through personal visits (10 per week), phone calls and emails to discuss opportunities, concerns or corrective actions required. Ensure customer profiles are up-to-date in company CRM (customer relationship management) software applications.
• Anticipate customer requirements and meet those needs in a professional and proactive manner. Provide customer service that exceeds the customer’s expectations.
• Cultivate strong personal relationships with a broad base of management and staff in support of customer / account objectives.
• Effectively communicate with the Inside Sales Team to ensure that customer needs are met or exceeded in a timely fashion.
• Develop, implement and deliver on the pre-determined sales plan.
• Manage any conflicts and issues. Drive the company to quickly resolve problems and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Use the appropriate resources to nurture relationships and deliver business results.
• Provide internal communication and support to ensure the successful delivery of results.
• Introduce and utilize the Inside Sales Team and the Wheels internal resource teams for the customer as required.

Identify new business opportunities that exist in the marketplace and with existing accounts.
• Contact, establish, cultivate and develop new business for the company.
• Identify new selling opportunities. Rethink and develop new features to provide benefits for the customer.
• Determine, evaluate and report special trends in the customer / territory base.

Represent Wheels to the industry
• Participate in transportation events and associations that the customer participates in.
• Promote other Wheels Group of companies’ services wherever possible.

Provide management with appropriate forecast of results and opportunities.
• Understand Wheels’ corporate vision and long-term strategic goals. Provide input to senior management on the development of these goals such as volume, margin, and revenue growth through CRM (Customer Relation Management) tool.
• Provide input to the annual budget.
• Other duties and assignments as required.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Education and Industry Knowledge
• High school diploma.
• College Diploma / University Degree in business or related discipline is an asset.
• CITT and PLog are assets.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Transportation / Logistics.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of sales experience.
• Good understanding of the North American transportation industry including highway (domestic and cross boarder), intermodal and logistics.

Technical Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word).
• PowerPoint an asset.

Customer Service Skills
• Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely, internal and external customer service.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a team environment.
• Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
• Team cooperation and respect is required.
• Strong negotiation and closing skills.
• Ability to clearly identify the customers’ current and future needs and present transportation solutions to them.
• Forward thinker, creative, innovative and entrepreneurial.
