Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic - Mining Equipment (Job # 466)
Grande Cache, AB

This company is currently seeking experienced and results-oriented heavy equipment technicians to support the production, handling and haul requirements of this non-unionized mine. These mechanics must have a Heavy Equipment Technician certification, with a red seal if the license is obtained outside of Alberta. Responsibilities are to provide repair & maintenance support in the shop and in the field to underground & surface mining equipment such as: Caterpillar 777 and Komatsu 685 haul trucks, Hitachi 3600 shovels, Letourneau 1350 and Komatsu 600 loaders, Komatsu PC3000 and 750 hoes, Caterpillar 16G graders, Caterpillar D10N and D8T dozers as well as numerous other pieces of support equipment. These mechanics must have the ability to diagnose equipment problems, disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, clutches and differentials by using all appropriate tools and following OEM and company procedures. Must also pass a mandatory drug & medical test to obtain an offer from this company, which is a strict policy and a requirement for a job offer for any technician.
$36.00 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift premium when working nights, $.50 per hour tool allowance, $.60 per hour boot & coverall allowance, $26 per day travel allowance for each day you work on site, $3.00 per hour "trade retention bonus" paid every three years & a full benefit package after the 3-month probation period. The benefit package consist of employee and dependant medical/dental coverage and a company match RRSP plan. Hard hat and safety glasses provided by the company at no cost. They also offer 12 paid vacation days per year, then 16 paid vacation days per year after 5 years of employment. Please keep in mind that the province of Alberta offers 11 statutory holidays every year as well. As permanent relocation to Grande Cache is expected, they also offer a $5,000 relocation package complete with free housing/hotel assistance for 2-3 months to get familiar with the area.
4-days on/4-days off rotation of 12 hour days & nights. Some decent overtime is available on your days off as well, paid at time and a half.
