Our company headquarters in Richmond, BC is responsible for production, sales, and technical support for our customers. We are currently looking for a professional with a strong engineering background to be part of our Engineering Department as a Software Design Engineer.
Summary:
Norsat is looking for a Software Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team. Norsat designs and builds a line of portable satellite terminals for broadcasters, disaster relief, tele-medicine and government applications. The terminals are highly integrated and comprise many electrical and mechanical components. The control software and innovative GUI are key to making the terminals automated and easy to use.
Responsibilities:
This job involves designing, developing, testing and maintaining software components for Norsat International Inc. You will be focused on providing fixes and changes to the existing software application. You will also work with the rest of the team to develop and test the next generation of the software platform.
Specific Technical Skills Required:
1. Have developed commercial software on Windows operating systems
2. Have developed commercial software using .NET technology/frameworks
3. Have developed commercial software using C# programming language
4. Have developed costumed controls using C#
5. Have prepared detailed requirements specifications and design documentation
6. Familiarity with object oriented development
7. Working experience with graphical user interface
8. Familiarity with software engineering practices Rational Unified Process
9. Proficiency in Object Oriented Analysis & Design
Education and Level of Overall Experience:
• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Have minimum 4 to 6 years of programming experience in client-server software development, and involved in architectural design in the last 3 to 4 years
