Being able to accurately project the cost of upcoming projects is vital to the survival of Noise Solutions. The Manufacturing Estimator provides this key information by costing the elements of each job to determine customer pricing and ensure the profitability of each sale.
B) Key Job Duties and Accountabilities (include but are not limited to the following):
Catalogue and Special Product Cost Estimating:
Develop pricing data sheets (or book) for the entire catalogue product line that reflects raw material and labour.
Proven ability to read and understand blueprints and construction drawings.
Maintain pricing data book to reflect raw material or labour rate changes.
Ensure cost estimates tie to individual parts development & full assembly procedures.
Analyze and compile data on each factor that may have an influence on costs. Elements include labour, materials, special machinery requirements and manufacturing location.
Work closely with Sales, Finance and Project Management to ensure all quote detail contain all the necessary manufacturing cost components.
Work with Finance to conduct post-job financial analyses to ensure all costs are tracked and cost estimates are accurately reflecting material and labour costs.
Work with Management, Finance and Sales to understand trends in product-line, or job-type profitability to better hone our pricing approach by product line.
Work with IT and Finance to utilize JobBOSS systems for component and total project cost estimating and tracking across Noise Solutions entire product line.
Purchasing and Vendor Relationship Management
Work closely with Finance and head office to develop detailed product component budgeting and ordering models.
Work with purchasing to develop long-term procurement plans tied to the budgeting tool and business plans and strong relationships with key suppliers.
Work with purchasing to plan and implement buying programs that match our short and long term raw material requirements, as tied to annual budget plans and short term sales orders.
C) Relationships (External and Internal)
Primary accountability to all customers (Energy Producers, Engineering Firms, Compressor and Other Equipment Manufacturers).
Frequent interaction with all internal groups - sales, design, project management, accounting, installation and management.
Regulators such as the ERCB and safety regulators.
D) Skills Required - Technical
A strong knowledge of the manufacturing industry and relevant manufacturing processes.
A strong background in physical sciences including engineering and mathematics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Technology savvy including a thorough knowledge of Excel, Word, MS Project & Outlook.
Time & budget management and basic accounting skills strongly desirable.
E) Skills Required - Non-Technical
Able to quickly analyze, interpret and compare detailed and often inadequately defined information.
Able to make reliable and accurate conclusions based on this knowledge.
Assertive and self-confident presenting and supporting their conclusions.
Ability to share knowledge articulately managers, engineers, sales, and design.

Strong project management and organization skills.
F) Education and Experience
A High School diploma or better, skilled in manufacturing, design, math and sciences.
Preferably a technical diploma or degree in mechanical or manufacturing technology.
Several years experience in manufacturing operations.
Management and non-authoritative leadership experience.
