A) Primary Job Purpose
Provide overall design concepts and details for core product lines, to enhance existing products, and enable the timely development of new product lines and innovations.
B) Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
•Work with sales, customers, management, research and development, and design.
•Develop concept drawings as a first step to new products.
•Work closely with Sales to provide preliminary design to support quotes and proposals.
•Prepare architectural and detailed drawings for noise suppression equipment.
•Co-ordinate detailed design and installations with Project Management.
•Produce manufacturing drawings.
•Assist the development of the Noise Solutions Catalogue and supporting technical details.
•Develop detailed material lists.
•Assist with onsite measurements - will require occasional travel.
•Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with Sales, Project Management and Manufacturing.
C) Skills Required - Technical
•Familiar with SolidWorks and AutoCAD programs.
•Computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point)
•Ability to think in three dimensions.
•Keen attention to detail.
•Creativity to establish new equipment design:
oFor innovations to existing products, and
oNew product development.
•Ability to independently develop viable solutions to design problems.
•Ability to find solutions that overcome operating or other design constraints.
•Ability to interpret field measurements and sketches and to identify field constraints and interferences with equipment design and installations.
D) Skills Required - Non-technical
•Strong interpersonal, telephone & communication skills.
•Strong command of the English language.
•Analytical skills for technical documents.
•Dynamic, motivated self-starter that can work independently and as part of a team.
•Positive, dynamic, can-do attitude eager to solve problems and foster an upbeat work environment.
•Flexibility to provide preliminary and detailed design and drawings based on varying levels of detail to come from clients and the field.
E) Education and Experience and Capabilities:
•Technical Degree (engineering) or Diploma (SAIT, NAIT) or equivalent design program.
•Multi-disciplinary training and background, including design, structures, acoustics, airflows, oilfield operations, and manufacturing.
•Sheet metal experience and experience with structural or HVAC systems beneficial.
•Experience in oil and gas or previous design and drafting experience an asset. |
