This Internet Start-up is seeking a web developer who loves to code, someone not afraid to code by hand, but can also make use of application development tools and frameworks. The Candidate will primarily be responsible for building a network of related websites in an efficient and scalable architecture. All projects are in-house projects owned by Ogopogo and you will oversee them from creation to implementation and beyond.
• PHP: 2-5 years of professional experience developing PHP/MySQL based web applications in both procedural and OOP programming styles in an MVC type of architecture.
• MySQL: Should be very comfortable building efficient database schema and creating complex queries.
• Be comfortable working in a linux environment and should have a good command of basic server administration, perl scripts, CRON jobs, apache configuration, installing/upgrading server software as necessary.
• Must have an excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript.
• AJAX, XML and FLASH experience a plus.
• You write high quality stuff: you follow web standards, you document, you appreciate the beauty of well-formed code, but not to the point of obsession.
• Visual design skills and appreciation preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with Adobe CS applications and Flash is a bonus.
• A team player - you work well with others.
• A quick learner - you're comfortable digging into legacy systems and hacking existing code.
• Able to prioritize and work well under pressure.
• Results focused - you're a self-starter, a self-manager, and are motivated by problems and challenges.
• Enjoys learning new systems and keeping up with the latest technologies.
