Power Systems Electrician Apprentice

Summary:
Our client is an Alberta owned and operated company, specializing in every aspect of the Medium and High Voltage Industry with a customer base throughout North America. The company has been in operation since 2003 and is growing rapidly.
Opportunities exist for 2nd, 3rd, 4th year Apprentices Power Systems Electricians based out of the Calgary or Edmonton office. Position would entail every aspect in building new substations from the ground up. There is also equipment upgrades, wiring, terminations etc. This position will cover work in substations all across the province of Alberta.
Responsibilities:
- On site supervision of crew in a construction environment
- Substation construction and equipment upgrades/maintenance
- Perform testing on substation equipment
- Analyze test reports and recommend corrective actions
- Work with high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switches and the control circuits for protection, indication and monitoring systems
- Adjusting relays, working on safety devices and general maintenance of large switch gear
Qualifications:
- Valid indenture in the Power Systems Electrician trade
- Be competent and comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets
- Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines
- Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace
- Must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and have a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Able to work comfortably at heights
- Able to work alone or with minimal supervision
- Willing to accept out of town working conditions
