Title District Sales Manager - Food & Beverage
OBJECTIVES:
District Manager is accountable for the profitability and sales growth of our clients products, systems & services for a defined geographic region with respect to global, national, and regional Food & Beverage accounts. They must provide the leadership to their team and deliver strategies to drive a steady flow of new customers and the retention/expansion of established accounts. Training and development of Territory Managers, key accounts and expense budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The District Manager is accountable for the profitability and sales growth within their specific district
Grow territory through existing customer account base and the development of new accounts
Ability to identify the chemical, equipment, and service needs of all potential and existing customers in a district. Introduce new products, services, programs and new innovations.
Network, maintain memberships, attend trade shows and association meetings to stay in the forefront and gather market information.
Account retention, the DSM may be assigned some larger key accounts
Anticipate and respond to changes and influences in the industry, market, and economy to proactively manage the resources of the district and across the organization.
Responsible for hiring, training, allocating, and motivating the sales force.
Continuous training of sales techniques, range and value proposition selling, servicing, communication skills, product/industry knowledge, and procedures
Mentor and motivate territory managers
Performance evaluations to determine additional training
Forecasting long and short-term sales of the district. Responsible for district sales planning, long range forecast, monthly forecast, and weekly progress
Execute selling strategies for existing and target accounts including product ranges and service offerings to achieve budgeted sales & profit targets
REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience and knowledge of sanitation and hygiene within the food processing, brewing, dairy, and/or beverage sectors a asset
Strong mechanical aptitude is a must for this position; technical problem solving capabilities
Ability to multi-task; strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to develop customer relationships by making efforts to listen to and understand the customers; anticipates and provides solutions to customer needs; gives high priority to customer satisfaction and high quality service.
Exceptional communications skills: ability to express ideas clearly; utilizing appropriate communications tools; ability to adapt to audience. Strong oral and written English language communication skills; exceptional interpersonal abilities and the ability to regularly interact with line staff, customers, and sales/marketing staff.
Technical Skills: Understands and can explain benefits of our clients products, systems, and services. Strong value-proposition selling ability.
A 4-year degree in Business, Marketing/Sales, Food Science, Chemistry or related field.
Minimum 5 years sales and service experience in B2B market
Ability to travel; valid drivers license and ability to drive to multiple locations of varying distance within assigned territory. 50%-60% travel within Alberta and British Columbia
