Sales & Catering Consultant (maternity leave contract)
 

Objective:
Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM), this position involves being mainly responsible for booking catering functions while ensuring maximum guest satisfaction and service goals in accordance with CHIP and Marriott standards

Responsibilities:
- Executing all function space bookings from client consultation proposals through to Banquet Event Order (BEO) contracts and group resumes including file maintenance
- Ensuring clear and total communication of BEO's on upcoming functions with all departments
- Blocking, yielding and maintaining function space bookings and availability
- Working with DOSM on monthly forecasting
- Executing all internal procedures for functions from BEO's to finalized payment
- Acting as a one stop shop for all catering enquiries & meetings with under 9 guestrooms.
- Assisting DOSM in development and execution of catering & event marketing initiatives
- Working closely with all operational departments & clients pre, during and post events/functions to ensure client satisfaction
- Exploring and implementing strategies in increasing catering revenues
- Contributing to overall banquets strategic goals, initiatives and objectives
- Providing input into budgeting and forecasting for catering department
- Attending weekly sales meeting, taking minutes and following up on actionable items
- Conducting Weekly Business Review Meetings
- Attends daily Operations meeting
- Processing monthly reporting and stats updates
- Conducting site inspections as necessary
- Prospecting for new business
- Performing other sales and administrative duties as required due to business demands and changes.
- Working closely not only with sales team, but also with F&B team to ensure guest satisfaction
- Although regular schedule is Mon-Fri, at times this position may require the occasional weekend coverage due to business demands
- Other duties as assigned by the DOSM

Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptionally strong guest service skills to ensure superior guest service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-player who is able to recognize the value of guests and associates
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Passion and drive to work and excel in the Hospitality Industry
- Strong leadership skills with strong decision making abilities
- Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Able to multi-task and be very detail oriented
- Tourism / Hospitality Management Diploma or Post Secondary Degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year sales or conference services experience an asset
