There are positions available across the province of Alberta. Alberta's grandeur and beauty are obvious from the moment of arrival. Dinosaur hunters flock to Drumheller, home of the acclaimed Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology, where the desert topography yields countless fossils and prehistoric discoveries. Alberta is best known for its warm hospitality, oil and gas industry and close proximity to the Rockies.
You will be working with and reporting to the Transmission Crew Supervisor and under the direction of the Foreman. Your role will be to function as a Journeyman in the building, modifying or maintaining of the Transmission system from man-baskets, buckets, helicopters, poles and towers. This position offers traveling opportunities - 1 to 3 nights per week with overnight bonuses paid. On occasion longer durations away from home headquarters may be required.
Terms of Employment
Permanent Full Time position. Work week consists of 4, 10-hour days, and crew is away for 60-100 nights per year
Compensation
$41.59 per hour + Comprehensive benefits packages that add up to approximately 30% of your total salary, Overnight bonuses, Interview Assistance, Relocation and Temporary accommodation all provided.
Requirements
Powerline Certificate, transmission experience, knowledge of safety procedures related to line work, Class 5 Driver’s license. Being a team player, Live Line Hot Stick / Barehand, and experience with working around helicopters are assets.
Job Duties
-Perform line maintenance in a safe efficient manner utilizing de-energized, live line hot stick or live line barehand techniques on voltages up to and including 500KV.
- Capable of stringing, sagging, tie in, dead-end and splicing of conductors tension or un-tension for all conductors including self dampening (SD).
- Safe operation of heavy and tracked equipment including Radial Arm Diggers, Line Trucks, Cranes, and all terrain equipment (Foremost) as required.
- Maintain a positive work environment through open communications, respect for co-workers, and willingness to contribute to the growth and well being of all crew members.
