Skills: UNIX PLATFORM ARCHITECT
The Unix Platform Architect will provide design and integration expertise to the enterprise for Unix servers, workstations and storage. The Unix platform currently includes Solaris (RISC and x86); Red Hat Linux (x86); SuSe Linux (x86 and zSeries); OSX; Client UX. The successful candidate will have expertise in the following areas:
POSITION:
The successful candidate will have demonstrable expertise in designing and deploying Unix technologies, including a minimum of eight to ten years experience all or most of the following:
o Specifying, configuring, deploying and integrating Unix servers on Client (DL and BL), Sun, Apple and IBM hardware platforms.
o Configuration, security, integration and performance tuning for the Solaris, Linux, OSX, BSD, Client UX.
o Configuring and optimizing Unix file systems, including Veritas, Sun NFS.
o Design and support of authentication services including Kerberos, Active Directory, DNS and other
o Unix internetworking technologies, including integration with Windows, Netware and Z/OS
o Veritas, Sun, Red Hat and other third party clustering technologies.
o Familiarity with load-balancing solutions from NetContinuum and Foundry.
o Opsware provisioning and management
o Client Openview and Mercury Interactive administration and monitoring.
o EMC, IBM and NetApps enterprise storage and replication technologies. Experience with EMC RecoverPoint (Kasha) is a plus.
o Oracle and MySQL databases
o Ability to troubleshoot problems in business-critical production environments
o Documenting complex technology solutions
o Project management applications such as Mariner, Microsoft Project and Basecamp.
o Expertise with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft SQL and SAP technologies is a plus.
o Familiarity with e-mail solutions such as Sendmail, Lotus Notes and Exchange is a plus.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
** Design and implementation responsibilities for the Unix platform in the production and business continuity environments.
** Level 3 support for the Enterprise Systems Services production and test environments, including 24 by 7 response to emergency production problems.
** Work closely with development groups to plan and implement application solutions.
** Maintain breadth and depth of knowledge for Unix technologies.
** Responsible for providing full documentation and recommendations that are consistent with the departmental and company strategies.
** Maintain a secure server environment for internal and external applications.
