Description POSITION PURPOSE Under general supervision, the Business Intelligence (BI) System Architect will be responsible for leading the definition, design, development and implementation of business intelligence. The objective for this initiative is to align business intelligence solutions with the strategic data analytics roadmap and emerging industry trends. The data to support this BI solution has a variety of sources including the corporate financial and HR ERP system. Additional responsibilities include; evaluating and recommending all components of a BI tool set.
Preferred candidates should have a proven track record of architecting and developing large scale data warehouse applications. Candidates will also need to possess a strong background with data warehousing and reporting architectures, dimensional modeling, and ETL knowledge in order to be successful. The candidate will be interacting with all levels of the organization and would therefore, need to possess strong analytical and planning skills and excellent written and presentation skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Provide technical leadership and thought leadership for the design and development of an Enterprise BI Initiative.
2. Provide oversight for data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation using standard data modeling methodologies and processes.
3. Partner with the business units to identify information needs and business rules as part of a conceptual data model and logic data model development effort. Additionally, produce source-to-target mapping and transformation specifications.
4. Create and maintain BI standards for meta-data and data modeling.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Education: Bachelors Degree required
Experience: Seven years of progressively more responsible experience working with Business Intelligence and Decision Support Systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong problem-solving and metadata skills • The ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
• A thorough understanding of a system development lifecycle • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • 5+ years of experience in dimensional modeling and data warehousing • 5+ years of implementing business intelligence solutions and associated process improvements • 7+ years of experience using Sql and Pl/Sql • 5+ years experience using ETL tools • Experience working in an Oracle Applications environment with business experience in at least one of the following: Finance, HR, Payroll, LD, Projects and Grants is highly desirable.
