Programs Assistant - Aspire
 

Reporting directly to the Programs Manager, the Programs Assistant (Aspire) is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the Aspire program. The Programs Assistant (Aspire) will also assist the Programs Manager with other Safe City Mississauga programmes and projects as required. The Programs Assistant (Aspire) will also attend initiatives and committees that support Safe City Mississauga’s mission, vision, and values.

Major Responsibilities
• Organization and implementation of a new Neighbourhood Youth Tutoring Center within Mississauga;
• Identify, support and build positive working relationships with youth volunteers;
• Convene and facilitate Aspire related events (training sessions, recognition events, etc.)
• Attend Neighbourhood Capacity Support Strategy group related events when required;
• Attend Neighbourhood Capacity Support Strategy monthly committee meetings;
• Assist with identifying resources required to support program delivery and ensure delivery is cost effective;
• Assist in the updating of program materials (i.e., brochures, handouts, training materials);
• Maintain accurate and confidential records about the program and participants;
• Assist with administrative and operational tasks;
• Perform basic office functions which include but are not limited to using the fax, copier, scanner, and computer;
• Actively support and participate in the occurrence of fundraising and related activities;
• Assist and attend Public Relation events;
• Perform all other reasonable tasks assigned by the Programs Manager or Executive Director.

Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (community development, social services, education);
• Minimum 2 years experience in the not-for-profit sector;
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills, including handling multiple, concurrent tasks;
• Excellent written and oral communication;
• Experience working with volunteers;
• Experience working with youth and children;
• Familiarity with the City of Mississauga;
• Ability to effectively manage confidential and/or sensitive information with complete discretion and professionalism;
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
• First Aid and CPR Certified;
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Publisher) and the Internet;
• Criminal Records Search
