As President and CEO, you have an opportunity to influence the future of the Canadian Malting and brewing industry. You will leverage your membership in industry associations in Canada and abroad to act as a liaison and to facilitate the accomplished of Board-directed goals.
Your familiarity with industry movers and shakers, government policy makers and plant breeders is critical to your success. You are a diplomat and comfortable in the role of mediator in helping others reach consensus. You have strong interpersonal skills, are able to act independently, possess strong decision making skills, are financially savvy, and a background in research and development that allows you to interface confidently with scientists, breeders and Board members alike.
You hold a post graduate degree or equivalent experience in Natural Sciences. An awareness of the agricultural industry and issues surrounding it is very important.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The operational management of the organization
- Responding to member inquiries and requests
- Administration of research grants
- Coordination of the Board of Directors and Technical Committee
- Coordinating malting barley collaborative trials
- Representing the organization on advisory committees and industry initiatives
- Participating in discussions and reviews of the Canadian variety development and evaluation system and related initiatives
- Lobbying to support barley breeding and research in Canada
