Job Description:
MWH, a leading provider of environmental engineering, construction consulting service is seeking qualified applicants for Senior Project Controls Specialist positions located in our Vancouver, BC office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of project plans (including scope, schedule, and budget) for all various hydropower projects.
Responsibilities:
1) Develop, manage, update, and monitor individual project schedules and integrated overall master program schedule in conjunction with project team members.
2) Review schedule, progress and productivity of consultants and contractors, monitor and verify monthly costs and earned value, and conduct change order management and control.
3) Develop, manage and monitor program and project specific budgets, cash flow projections and forecasts, including analysis of performance using Earned-Value Management (EVM) techniques.
4) Evaluate and update data regarding cost status, resource requirements, commitment data and productivity variance reports.
5) Develop and prepare monthly project progress summary reports.
6) Establish and ensure scheduling and cost control standards are implemented on all projects.
7) Interface and maintain liaison with project management, client, contractor, and other consultants on all project controls related activities.
8) Update project schedules on a monthly basis. Work with all schedulers for design consultants, construction management consultants, contractors, and program management team members and client staff to obtain the latest schedules in the appropriate program format for each phase (planning, design, bid/award, construction, start-up) and task (including ROW, permits, and environmental) and incorporate into monthly schedule. Distribute copies of schedule to project team members, client, and stakeholders.
9) Attend progress meetings with design consultants, construction managers, and contractors to review and approve baseline schedules, and attend other scheduled meetings as necessary to stay current on schedules.
10) Maintain an accurate, up to date record of the actual and planned costs for the project. Update the project change notice and cost projections as required. Work with the project and program management team members to facilitate delivery of all necessary change notice scope and cost documents from design and construction management consultants to obtain client approval.
11) Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar certification preferred
- 8-10 years of experience developing and maintaining project schedules for complex capital construction projects of varying sizes and values from $1m+.
- Proficient in Primavera scheduling/project management software (version 4 and above), and Primavera Expedition/Contract Manager (version 9 and above).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and other normal business applications.
