As a Senior Auditor in the Internal Audit Department and you will assist management in the identification of corporate risk and to provide recommendations on how to manage those risks, through the careful planning, development and execution of risk-based operational and/or systems audits and reviews.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ownership of each assigned audit from the initial planning to completion.
2. Effectively plan and execute assigned audits.
3. Communicate the role of internal audit and the process that is being followed to the audit client at the start of the engagement.
4. Communicate audit findings to the Audit Manager and to the auditee.
5. Draft audit reports, including recommendations for improvements taking into consideration industry best practices.
6. Adherence to and implementation of IA policies and procedures.
7. Effectively updating the Manager and the Vice President, Internal Audit of the status of work and issues identified.
8. Follow-up on issues or special projects as requested by the Vice President, Internal Audit.
9. Identify opportunities for internal audit to provide value added services to the organization.
10. Assist the Manager and the Vice President, Internal Audit with special and ad-hoc projects.
11. Continually improve skills and competencies required for the position.
Direct and Indirect Reporting Structure:
The Senior Auditor reports to the Manager, Internal Audit. The Manager reports to the Vice President of Internal Audit.
Core Competencies Required:
· Plan and execute risk-based audits in accordance with IIA guidelines.
· Have an understanding of enterprise risk management framework such as the COSO framework..
· Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
· Work effectively in a team environment, both within Internal Audit and across other departments.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with others in the organization and with persons outside the organization such as clients.
Qualifications:
· Working towards accounting/audit designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CIA, CISA),
· 3 - 5 years of audit experience (one year at the supervisory level) within the capital markets industry,
· Effective team management and proven leadership qualities,
· Excellent written and oral communication skills,
· Working knowledge of MS Office and Lotus Notes is an asset.
