This role is responsible for:
.managing all aspects of Commodity Tax to ensure operational and accounting policies are maintained;
.reviewing the preparation of federal and provincial tax and levy returns (e.g., GST/HST, PST, QST. e-Levy) and supporting documentation to ensure Canada is in compliance with all Federal and Provincial Tax Commodity laws/regulations. Developing and communicating tax changes to ensure corporate compliance within all jurisdictions.
.Reviewing, auditing and educating departments regarding tax issues
.Assisting in external government audits
.Determining the tax status of property and/or services
.Monitoring proposed legislation and court decisions for opportunities and/or relevant issues.
.Ensuring all commodity tax accounts are properly controlled, reconciled and analyzed.
.Ensuring that all records are structured to facilitate tax administration.
Success in this role calls for demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the related legislation, together with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles-GAAP. The ideal job candidate will have completed a university degree, preferably in the area of Business Administration or Tax or an accounting Designation (CMA, CA, CGA).

. Demonstrated analytical skills, particularly in the area of tax research and analysis
. Excellent oral/written communication skills (English essential, bilingual (French) a definite asset;
. Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheet applications
