Patent and Trademark Legal Assistant

Our fantastic downtown national law firm is looking for an individual with superior skills to join their expanding Patent and Trademark department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties but not limited to administering and maintaining a computer database of trade-marks records and deadlines, producing form letters and being the first point of contact for clients.
Core Responsibilities for this position include:
• Administer and maintain a computer database of trade-marks records and deadlines
• Provide update on status of matters for daily bring forward documents
• Produce form letters; draft and prepare correspondence, including letters and memos, working with Word and PowerPoint templates.
• Pull files and distribute correspondence and other material to the appropriate party.
• File management: requisition new files, maintain a record of all client files, related records and general file maintenance is key to this role.
• Edit, format, print and revise letters, memos, reports, forms, labels and other printed material from dictation or hand written as required.
• Ability to manage calendars, schedule appointments and assist lawyer with preparing prior to appointments.
• Working directly with the Senior Lawyer to coordinate client meetings, arranging for catering or audio-visual equipment as needed. Organize equipment and other materials for on-site and off-site presentations.
• In this position you will act as first point of contact for clients and maintain positive client relations.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• 3 - 5 years’ experience as a legal assistant
• Positive and willing attitude.
• Strong attention to detail along with solid proof-reading skills.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal)
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives under minimal supervision.
