Recovery Services Legal Assistant
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of various legal documents for power of sale proceedings for the team leader and other team members. This position receives regular direction or guidance; few tasks and objectives are accomplished independently.
•Receiving, reviewing and opening files, including entering data
•Under direction, preparing, issuing and serving documents necessary from inception of file to closure of file
•Liaising with all internal and external parties involved with the proceedings, including drafting of correspondence for review
•Monitoring the various steps throughout the proceedings, dealing with any issues that may arise and escalating problems to a higher level where/when necessary
•Reviewing all correspondence and preparing draft responses
•Assisting with the processing of all monies received in connection with the file
•Ordering accounting reports and ensuring zero balance owing on accounts before closing file; prepareing file and sending to storage
•Machine transcription for team leader or other team members, payment of invoices from process servers and filing
•Over two year's experience as a law clerk/paralegal
•Law clerk/paralegal or legal assistant diploma/certificate
•Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner
•Capacity to work independently as well as in a team environment
•Ability to produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines
•Ability to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary
•Ability to handle stress in a business-like manner
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
