Litigation Legal Assistant - Contract Position

Job Purpose:
On behalf of our highly esteemed client, a leading Calgary law firm; we are seeking a Litigation legal assistant to work closely with an Associate Lawyer in his civil litigation, general business transactions, corporate matters, builders’ lien matters, and real estate practice.
This is a 4 month term contract position with the ability to lead into full time for the ideal candidate.
Duties:
• Type correspondence and legal documents from dictation and/or handwritten notes
• Maintain files; including daily filing, file organization, opening files, closing files, etc.
• Handle telephone and mail correspondence, both incoming and outgoing
• Administration duties, including time entry and bill preparation
• Other duties as required
Skills/Qualifications:
• Completion of a recognized legal assistant program
• 2+ years experience in Litigation matters would be an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong computer skill
• Strong organization skills
• Detailed orientated and able to handle multiple tasks
• Highly motivated and personable
• Able to prioritize work
• Willing to take initiative
• Responds to everyday tasks with little supervision
• Maintains professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
• Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
