- Provide Project Management of KIP projects such as VOIP, Call Centre enhancements and Unified Communications.

Duties and Responsibilities
Management and Administration of Telephone systems (70%)
- The incumbent must become and maintain familiarity with the university’s voice and data network environment.
- Design/analysis, planning and installation of wholesale changes to the telephone systems are responsibilities of the incumbent. This individual must keep abreast of technological developments and industry trends in order to ensure that the most appropriate and cost effective solutions are selected.
- Project management of related KIP projects is the responsibility of the incumbent. This encompasses all the usual components of project management at the university, following the standard PMO processes of project proposal, project charter, approval at governance committees, resource allocation and monitoring, project planning and scheduling, project monitoring and reporting, facilitation, team leadership, etc.
- Creation and evaluation of RFP’s for system upgrades and acquisitions are required.

Wide Area Data and Voice Networking (20%)
- As it relates to VOIP and telephone services, the incumbent must provide Wide Area Networking (WAN) support and telephone and computer system access for system users.

Local Area Networking (10%)
- As it relates to VOIP and telephone services, the incumbent is co-responsible with the System Administration & Network Services unit for design, planning, installation and maintenance of LAN facilities at all University offices.

Classification Factors
Communication
- The incumbent will generally meet with managers up to the department head level, in discussing and analyzing appropriate deployment of voice and data communications technology and facilities, to the best effect. Often this position is called upon by the Manager of ITS Infrastructure to assist in discussions on telecommunications options to support institutional initiatives.
- This individual must maintain liaison with sales and service representatives from telephone companies and telecommunications equipment suppliers.
- Additional communication activity takes place within internal Computing Services projects and external "special" projects within the university. Typically these communication activities take the form of providing consultation for telecommunications requirements, networking or other computing issues.

Supervision
- The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of any staff assigned to a project where she or he is the project manager

Impact of Service or Product
The success of the KIP project is critical to the overall success of the university and of our chances for obtaining future external funding. The telecom and VOIP projects within KIP are critical to enhancing the collaboration within the university, and the university’s effectiveness. The incumbent, as the Project Manager and technical designer, plays a critical role in the success of these projects and their ongoing sustainability.

Independence of Action
The incumbent is expected to be a senior-level analyst and is expected to work independently with little direct supervision and little need for mentoring in either project management or telecom technologies.

Complexity
This position encompasses both advanced technological design skills in a specialized area of IT, and advanced project management, communications and interpersonal skills. Each area could be an independent specialist position.

Planning
Planning is an integral part of the required job duties. The projects must be planned, scheduled and monitored. The overall technological design is in itself a roadmap or plan for the University’s telecommunication facilities for at least the next 5 years.

Qualifications
- This position ideally would require an individual with a 4 year degree in a related field, recognized within Canada, and 5 years experience directly related
