Job Description:
• Completed several Business Intelligence project life-cycles
• Understanding of leading technologies in Business Intelligence (Teradata, ORACLE, IBM, Microsoft, etc.)
• Strong experience with Linux and/or UNIX programming environments
• Solid database experience with Oracle including stored procedures, triggers, etc.
• Strong Experience with complex data architecture and data management assignments, including data analysis and design, master data management, reference data management, database administration, data security management, metadata management, data warehousing, business intelligence, and data quality improvement is required
• Knowledge of data management and data architecture functions, including physical database design, data migration, state-of-the-art database technology, and at least one major relational database management system; data modeling (both UML class diagrams and entity-relationship diagrams), and metadata management, tools, and processes is required
• Experience with a large-scale production service-oriented architecture (SOA), and complex, large scale, distributed multi-database environment is required
• Demonstrated ability to plan and establish data architecture goals, work with management to set priorities, lead a variety of complex data management activities, and develop and the implementation of a complex data migration and data integration architecture is required
• Academic Centre experience as an asset but not required
Responsibilities:
• Participate in the Business requirements to identify the data requirements
• Model the required data as a Data Mart using Dimensional Modeling technique (e.g. Star Schema)
• Identify the data sources by investigating the source database(s)
• Prepare data mappings to the source operational data
• Perform other duties as needed as a Database Architect in a Business Intelligence development project
Qualifications:
• In-depth knowledge and experience (at least 4 years) with the following areas:
o Business Intelligence systems development and data modeling
o Dimensional Modeling techniques (e.g., Star Schema)
o Oracle Database (Version 7, 8 or 9)
• Strong experience with Oracle Database applications and tools
• Experience with Database Installation, Administration, Migration, and Tuning
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Highly familiar with software delivery lifecycle, especially iterative approach and Business Intelligence
• University or college degree/certificate in Information Technology related discipline or equivalent
