Job Summary:
The Project Test Lead will play a key role within the project management office to design, approve and supervise overall quality and value of the client application software across all platforms. This includes planning and implementation of software projects through rigorous planning, testing, and post implementation review.
The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of IT software quality standards and methodologies. The incumbent must be able to transfer this experience to a broad spectrum of project planning.
The incumbent is responsible for the creation and implementation of test plans, including mentoring internal (to CS) and external (within client) testing resources. The incumbent is responsible for training User Team Leaders along with oversight of project-testing teams.
As well, the incumbent is the primary oversight for all external testing (to client) software including; contracts, protecting confidentiality and Service Level Agreements with external Testing Vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning (60%)
• Develop and provide guidance in the creation of complex test plans across multiple applications and integrated system environments
• Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to senior executives including the CIO, information related to test planning, test execution, anomaly reporting and reproduction, as well as test result reporting
• Thoroughly documents and tracks issues which surface during the testing process and coordinates the escalation of software development issues and supports a quality implementation process
Application Software Systems Testing (25%)
• Responsible for defining, developing, documenting and executing functional and systems tests to uncover defects and improve the overall quality of client software
• Develops, maintains and coordinates methodologies for software testing and quality management
• Plans effective test environments and populates the environments with useful test data
• Contributes ideas and suggestions in support of the goal of continuous improvement
• Documents the set-up, and administers, a library of requisite test cases for applications, and reports results to the development team (regression testing)
• Tests application software, tracks test results and checks software configuration where applicable
• Utilizes processes and software that ensures the quality, reliability, and system safety and security
• Utilizes methods, procedures, and metrics needed to ensure that quality standards and practices are attained
• Assesses the quality needs of the user community for new and existing software
Application Software Support (15%)
• Incumbent must manage senior resources external to CS who require tier 3 technical assistance for a broad range of applications and systems and their integration points
• Is a senior resource within CS providing tier 3 technical support for a broad range of applications and systems and their integration points
Communication:
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, and has excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates managerial savvy in providing support to Senior Staff
• Provide high level technical guidance to both technical and non-technical users from the various non-CS departments and Centres, as well as the many diverse units within CS and external vendors
• Enjoys a strong customer service orientation, and understands the significance of the customer advocate role in CS. This requires the incumbent to be able to speak with authority and participate at the Governance Level.
