Reporting to the VP of Software Engineering, the Release Engineering Manager is responsible for first line engineering support of released product and the release engineering and release management of new product. In Top Producer all products are subscription Internet Applications, served from a Managed Services Environment and all Release Engineering work is oriented toward a set of large subscription based internet sites.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for the coordinated management of multiple related projects and numerous related ongoing operations
• Responsible for stakeholder management, collaboration and negotiation with a diverse group of internal stakeholders
• Management of the release process during the stabilization and deployment of release candidates
• Engineering support to Site operations
• First Line engineering support of released product
• Definition and development of various build and installation tools
• Configuration Management of all source code libraries
• Management of performance testing
• Management of systems design and hardware identification for product deployments
• Product/Site capacity characterization and prediction
• Management of Release Engineering staff
Qualifications
• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• At least 10 years experience in the software industry in roles such a Project Manager, Analyst, Release Manager, SQA Manager or Developer
• A thorough understanding of product lifecycles, software development, project management and release practices in an Internet environment is necessary
• Experience in data center operations and a knowledge of site technologies (SANs, NASs, Load balancers) would be an asset
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to motivate teams
• The ability to work under pressure and manage diverse responsibilities and activities
