UP - Philippine General Hospital Medical Technologist II – Microbiology Section Job description: Performs internal quality control of chemicals, reagents and instruments required before the performance of any laboratory examination. Performs quality microbiology laboratory procedures: media preparation, specimen processing and culture, biochemical tests, identification of microorganisms and sensitivity testing. Interprets, verifies, reports and files quality microbiology results done by the section. Trains and conducts lecture to rotating postgraduate Medical Technologists, special trainees and resident doctors. Helps in maintaining the quality of chemicals and reagents by safekeeping and proper utilization. Attends meetings, conventions and seminar workshops relevant to the function of the section. Operates: BacTAlert machine for blood culture, MGIT for TB culture, Vitek 1 and Vitek 2 Compact for automated identification and sensitivity testing of microorganisms.
