I am a Senior Switch Technician (Telecommunications) with extensive experience in the telcomms and satellite communications industries for Primus Telecommunications and Cable and Wireless. Currently I have 17 years of experience, working firstly as a Satellite Earth Station technician for Cable and Wireless in Ascension Island (South Atlantic Ocean) for 8 years. In this role, I worked on a 24 hour shift rota, performing all routine, corrective and preventive maintenance of Intelsat Standard B, D and F Earth Stations, associated Ground Communication Equipment and 80KVA Standby power plants, most of the time unsupervised. I also provided backup support for the European Space Agency (Ariane) real-time data-link during Ariane launch schedule and also was responsible for the installation and testing of new customer circuit orders, keeping to CCITT and INTELSAT recommendations. I have proficient and extensive experience of multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, RF signal generators, Firebird and Marconi BER testers. For the last 8 years I have worked as a Switch Technician for Primus Telecommunications in a busy network operation centre, mainly focusing on performing all routine, corrective and preventive maintenance on European transmission and data networks in the European Network Operations Centre (ENOC), via Ericsson AXE10 and Veraz VOIP switches in London, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Denmark, (TL3, TL4, TL4.2, Enabler running at 80%) and Veraz EMS / xMS with Media gateways (Pro, Edges and Session Border Controllers) in respective European sites. For this role I have had proficient use of Wireshark, GN Nettest Multiple Channel Protocol C7 Analyser, Gherpardo C7 Analyser, Trend Aurora ISDN Tester, Aethra ISDN Tester, Sunrise E20 E1/BRA/PRA tester, Minacom. One of my qualifications is the Radar Maintenance Certificate, which entitles me to fault-find on, and repair ship radars, down to component level.
