Please let me introduce myself. I am a Certified Counsellor and a Certified Adult Educator. I have a Masters of Education (Counselling) plus two certificates in Adult Education. In recent years, I have been instructing at Counsellor Training Institute in Halifax, doing therapy work in private practice, and contract counselling at a clinic in a remote First Nations community. More than 14 years experience in the fields of mental health, education, and addictions. My passion is using my skills and experience in a therapeutic and educational environment with individuals and groups. I bring to the team strengths in; client-centered treatment, group facilitation, experiential education, assessment, therapeutic interventions, treatment plan development, organizational skills, decision making, and computer applications. I have my own vehicle, a spotless driving record, and I enjoy travel. My English is superior; my French is intermediate, and I am improving it through self study and the Rosetta Stone CD’s. As a College Instructor delivered week-long seminars and evaluated students on topics of: addictions, cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, Jungian therapy, relaxation and stress reduction, and person-centered therapy. Extensive and varied experience in leading groups in: therapy, dream work, qigong, guided imagery, and sharing circles. As the sole Mental Health Therapist in a remote community I developed self sufficiency and confidence. Led seminars in treatment program, conducted assessments, mentored staff, case management, and developed partnerships with RCMP, nurses, social workers, lawyers, judge, and community trainers.
